When you get a phone call from the Stake President you always wonder what is up.
Well, it was no different this time!
President Turnbow called Greg and asked him to call Elder Footes Mission President, President Dale Murri. (He is from Logan, Utah!) He said not to worry, but Elder Foote was in the Emergency Room! (Sure, don't worry! How can a Mom NOT worry about her boy!?????) President Murri didn't know much when we called, he just said he would let us know as soon as he did. I guess Elder Foote had already been in the Emergency Room for 4 or 5 hours by now. President Murri hadn't had a chance to talk to anyone like a DR. or nurse yet, he had just talked with Elder Foote. So for a couple of hours, we waited for the phone to ring. We had our Webelos over for a cook out and to teach them about fire safety and a couple other things. In the middle of that, President Murri called and said that Elder Foote was scheduled for surgery in 2 hours to have his appendix taken out. A couple of things ran through this Mom's mind. 1. I am glad they know what is wrong and are taking care of the situation, 2. I am not there to be with him through this! I don't mean to sound like I am a "mothery" mother, it is just that Elder Foote has not been in the hospital since he was about 3 years old! Plus, I just thought about him waking up and not having some family there. How sad!! President Murri called Wednesday night around 10:30 to let us know he had just talked with the surgeon and everything went as planned. He told me to try and get some sleep. YEAH---WHATEVER! (I did sleep good though!)
Ok, so Friday I was helping My Father and driving the tractor, when Tiffanee ran out with my phone. I told her she was not suppose to answer my phone (since we are short on minutes) and she said "Mom, it sounds like someone important!" She was right! It was Elder Foote calling to tell us that everything was fine and he was going to be released from the Hospital. He sounded a little groggy, but good. He seemed to be in good spirits. He talked with both Greg and I. I was telling my Father about talking to Elder Foote, and just started to cry! I had just talked to my boy! WOW!
So we had assumed everything was good. Then Saturday evening, we got a call from President Murri and he said they had just released Elder Foote to go home, and all was well. That was a shock! We thought he was already home. I guess he was having severe pain and so they kept him one more night. Then President Murri said that "no news from now on, was good news".
When we get to hear from him tomorrow on email, we will know more.
I am so thankful for the power of prayer! I know that Heavenly Father hears us and knows what we need. I am also so very thankful for family. I know our families have been praying for us and have also put Elder Foote's name in the temple. Thank you to everyone who have done so much for us! We love and appreciate all the support in everything we do.
